CEO Dialogues: Nation Building in the Time of a Crisis | How Deliberate & Conscious Leadership is Driving the Social State of the Nation
October 13, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
The National Business Initiative (NBI) in partnership with Shell, under the NBI’s Social Transformation Bold and Transformative Leadership Pathway, is hosting a second CEO Thought Leadership Dialogue, as we explore How Deliberate & Conscious Leadership is Driving the Social State of the Nation.
The NBI’s CEO Thought Leadership Dialogue Series is an influential virtual engagement platform for business leaders. It provides an opportunity to explore the challenges, opportunities, lessons and best practice essential to our economic recovery and transformation within workplaces, whilst strengthening the role of business in society.
In this dialogue with Shell South Africa, Country Chair, Mr Hloniphizwe Mtolo, will provide insights on managing and leading during a crisis, underlined by deliberate and conscious leadership, as well as the crucial interplay between governance and nation building.
In conversation with NBI CEO, Joanne Yawitch, Mr Mtolo will explore the leadership culture in a multi-national and how this influences the concept of the role of Business in national development in the South Africa context. Joanne will also explore Nation Building, through a transformation lens, by interrogating Hloniphizwe’s role as a empathetic and accountable leader in a multi-national organisation.
Through Hloniphizwe’s first-hand experience, the discussion aims to understand the importance of being driven by the commitment to enable change while remaining a conscious leader.
Call to Action:
The NBI calls on CEOs to take action by prioritising Nation-building, by deliberately constructing and structuring initiatives and programmes to develop innovative leadership and drive transformation through business commitments. These commitments are driven by the realisation that we must use participation and the transfer of ideas to develop democratic institutions that promote economic and social welfare.
