Intergenerational Leadership Dialogue: Solidarity in the Workplace
Friday, 18 June 2021 11:00 to 13:00
Why are Intergenerational Leadership Dialogues crucial for achieving solidarity in the workplace?
Achieving solidarity in the workplace is a nuanced and complex journey with intergenerational dialogues as one of the most important vehicles to transport us there. Enhanced solidarity creates more inclusive work cultures and therefore more cohesive workplaces.
The National Business Initiative (NBI) has recognised that intergenerational leadership is an important aspect of transformation and equity and have created a platform to critically explore how workplaces engage around generational differences. These discussions intend to elevate the voices of young people at work, facilitating innovative thinking and reimagining leadership. This particular discussion in the Intergenerational Leadership Dialogue series will look at the importance of Solidarity in the Workplace.
Achieving solidarity requires workplace cultures that are rooted in empathy, belonging and community. The workplace is a space with varying power structures, systems and processes, all of which intercept to either enhance or diminish solidarity amongst employees. During this dialogue, the discussion will focus on how solidarity is built across generations, both at work and society at large, as a vehicle of transformation.
