SUMMARY:Launch of WBCSD’s Vision 2050: Time to Transform
DESCRIPTION:The National Business Initiative (NBI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) are hosting the South African launch of Vision 2050: Time to Transform. We’ll be asking how business can lead the transformations needed for 9+ billion people to live well\, within planetary boundaries by 2050. \nThe world faces three critical challenges: the climate emergency\, nature loss and mounting inequality. Only collaboration at unprecedented levels between business\, government and civil society\, will create the impact and scale required to transform our systems to achieve our goal by 2050. WBCSD has not only imagined that future\, they have been putting proactive steps in place to make this vision a reality. \nVision 2050: Time to Transform provides a framework to guide business action in line with the urgency of these challenges. As the local implementation partner of the WBCSD\, NBI has participated in the co-creation of this vision. We want to see sustainable societies around the world and a South Africa that is thriving and inclusive economically\, environmentally and socially. Vision 2050 can contribute to our thinking and help accelerate our members efforts towards achieving this transformation. \nJoin us on Thursday 15 July for the South African launch of WBCSD’s Vision 2050 update to find out more about this comprehensive framework for business action. We will discuss the nine transformation pathways and provide new perspectives on the mindset shifts required for real transformation. \nKeryn James\, Group Chief Executive Officer of ERM and Vice-Chair of WBCSD’s Executive Committee\, will provide a keynote speech exploring how Vision 2050 guides companies on their transformation journeys to 2050. \nThe event will include company representatives from a range of key economic sectors as well as the following speakers: \n\nKeryn James (Keynote Speaker): Group CEO\, ERM and Vice-Chair\, WBCSD Executive Committee\nJoanne Yawitch: CEO\, NBI\nFilippo Veglio: Managing Director & Senior Management Team\, WBCSD\n\nTogether with the WBCSD\, we aim to journey on this transformation trajectory with business to 2050. Will you join us? \n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n Water security is no longer a future concern\, it is already affecting communities\, businesses\, cities\, economies and ecosystems. As pressure on water systems grows\, organisations need credible and practical ways to respond beyond their own operations. This is where water stewardship becomes critical \n\n\n\n \n Join the National Business Initiative (NBI)\, in partnership with the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS)\, for a thought leadership webinar exploring the newly launched AWS Standard Version 3.0 the global benchmark for credible water stewardship. \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Building on the NBI’s early 2025 Thought Leadership Session\, which introduced the AWS Standard and the CEO Water Mandate’s Net Positive Water Impact (NPWI) Ambition Guide\, this session will explore how the AWS Standard Version 3.0 can help organisations move from ambition to practical action\, strengthening water management and supporting lasting impact for people\, nature and economies. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Participants will gain insights into: \n\nThe revised AWS Standard Version 3.0\nHow water stewardship can support utilities\, cities\, industries and other organisations\nSouth Africa’s water security challenges\nPractical examples of collective action and implementation\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Speakers \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \nGarth Barnes: Programme Manager: Environment & Society\, National Business Initiative (NBI)\nFaith Lawrence (PhD): Head of Strategic Partnerships & Policy Engagement\, Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS)\nTyler Farrow: Standards Manager\, Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS)\nHelen Seyler: Technical Consulting Director\, ERM\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Event Details: \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \nDate: Thursday\, 09 July 2026\nTime: 15h00 – 16h30 (SAST)\nPlatform: Online via Zoom\n \n\n\n\n \n Join us to explore how the AWS Standard 3.0 can help organisations respond to today’s water challenges and create lasting positive impact for people\, nature\, and economies. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n Click Here to RSVP
