SUMMARY:CEO Dialogue: Gender Diversity and Women Empowerment in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Imperial in partnership with the National Business Initiative (NBI)\, under the NBI’s Social Transformation: Bold and Transformative Leadership Pathway are hosting a CEO Thought Leadership Dialogue as we unpack Gender Diversity and Women Empowerment in the Workplace. \nThe NBI’s CEO Thought Leadership Dialogue Series is an important virtual engagement for business leaders. It is an opportunity to explore both challenges and opportunities\, lessons and best practice vital to our economic recovery\, as well as co-created approaches and interventions that drive transformation within workplaces and strengthen the role of business in society. \nIn this dialogue with Imperial CEO\, Mohammed Akoojee and Executive Vice President: Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations\, Esha Mansingh\, we will explore the importance of gender diversity and the advancement of women in the workplace and why it is both necessary and pivotal for organisations to grow\, succeed and be sustainable in challenging economic circumstances. \nThe discussion aims to understand the importance of gender equity being driven from the top\, in order to ensure commitment and create an enabling environment for change. We also examine the role of mentorship in supporting growth and empowerment. We aim to understand first-hand the experience of Esha Mansingh being a young woman in leadership and what the guidance of having a visionary leader meant in spearheading her career and success. By exploring the impact thereof\, we can understand how it has shaped women’s empowerment within Imperial and what she has been able to achieve as a result. \nThis thought leadership discussion will also enable conversation around best practice and the commitment to gender equality. \nCall to Action: \nWe call on CEOs to take action and prioritise transformation and equity as a key focal area in driving business commitment to advance transformation as a normative culture in the workplace. This commitment should be driven by a realisation that addressing gender equity and inclusion is not a competitive issue\, but a societal imperative. \n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n Water security is no longer a future concern\, it is already affecting communities\, businesses\, cities\, economies and ecosystems. As pressure on water systems grows\, organisations need credible and practical ways to respond beyond their own operations. This is where water stewardship becomes critical \n\n\n\n \n Join the National Business Initiative (NBI)\, in partnership with the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS)\, for a thought leadership webinar exploring the newly launched AWS Standard Version 3.0 the global benchmark for credible water stewardship. \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Building on the NBI’s early 2025 Thought Leadership Session\, which introduced the AWS Standard and the CEO Water Mandate’s Net Positive Water Impact (NPWI) Ambition Guide\, this session will explore how the AWS Standard Version 3.0 can help organisations move from ambition to practical action\, strengthening water management and supporting lasting impact for people\, nature and economies. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Participants will gain insights into: \n\nThe revised AWS Standard Version 3.0\nHow water stewardship can support utilities\, cities\, industries and other organisations\nSouth Africa’s water security challenges\nPractical examples of collective action and implementation\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Speakers \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \nGarth Barnes: Programme Manager: Environment & Society\, National Business Initiative (NBI)\nFaith Lawrence (PhD): Head of Strategic Partnerships & Policy Engagement\, Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS)\nTyler Farrow: Standards Manager\, Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS)\nHelen Seyler: Technical Consulting Director\, ERM\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Event Details: \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \nDate: Thursday\, 09 July 2026\nTime: 15h00 – 16h30 (SAST)\nPlatform: Online via Zoom\n \n\n\n\n \n Join us to explore how the AWS Standard 3.0 can help organisations respond to today’s water challenges and create lasting positive impact for people\, nature\, and economies. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n Click Here to RSVP
