SUMMARY:Operation Vulindlela II: Unlocking Business Participation in South Africa’s Reform Agenda
DESCRIPTION:South Africa’s Industrial Development Strategy (IDS) 2026 sets a new direction for industrial policy\, with decarbonisation\, diversification and digitalisation at its core. Backed by significant public resources and a renewed focus on strategic investment\, the Strategy has important implications for businesses operating in South Africa\, especially the declining industrial sector. \nIts success\, however\, will depend on effective implementation and close collaboration between government and industry. \nThe National Business Initiative (NBI) along with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in South Africa and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invite business leaders and industry stakeholders to a focused dialogue on what the IDS 2026 means for the private sector and how implementation can support investment\, competitiveness and industrial growth. \n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n The session will provide an opportunity to: \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \nEngage directly with government and hear more about the IDS 2026;\nShape the conversation on implementation and enabling conditions businesses need to grow and decarbonise;\nExplore opportunities for green industrialisation\, new markets and value chains; and\nExchange perspectives with South African and German industrial companies on leveraging decarbonisation and technology for industrial growth.\n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Why participate? \n \n\n\n\n\n \n South Africa has significant industrial capabilities\, infrastructure and natural resources that can underpin reindustrialisation and competitiveness in a rapidly changing global economy. Realising this opportunity will require stronger alignment between industrial policy and the realities of business investment and implementation. \nThis dialogue will provide business with an opportunity to engage with the new IDS 2026\, hear from government and companies and contribute directly to the conversation to identify the practical actions and partnerships needed to translate the IDS 2026 into low carbon industrial growth. \n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n We invite you to join us and hear how South Africa can build a more competitive\, investable and sustainable industrial economy. \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Event Details \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \nDate: Tuesday\, 22 September 2026\nTime: 08:30 for 09:00 to 13:00 followed by networking and lunch\nPlatform: Sandton\, Gauteng | Venue TBC\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n For more information contact: Alexa Brown-Robinson: AlexaB@nbi.org.za or Gillian Maree: GillianM@nbi.org.za \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n Click Here to RSVP
