DESCRIPTION:Dear Valued Stakeholder\, \nThe National Business Initiative (NBI)\,GIZ and Prime Africa Consult invite you to a dialogue on how the scale of the Transmission Development Plan (TDP) presents a unique opportunity to revitalise South Africa’s heavy manufacturing sector. \nSouth Africa’s energy landscape is undergoing a significant transformation\, with the TDP 2024 – 2032 outlining an ambitious roadmap to expand the national grid. The plan envisions the addition of 56GW new capacity\, 14\,500 kilometers of new transmission lines and 210 transformers over the next decade. R112Bn has been approved for the TDP until 2030.     \n\n        \n                    \n                \n                        \n        \n                        \n                        \n                        \n                    \n\n        \n        This expansion is critical to alleviate current grid constraints that hinder the integration of renewable energy sources\, particularly from regions like the Northern\, Western\, and Eastern Cape. The successful implementation of the TDP is pivotal for ensuring energy security and supporting South Africa’s commitment to a just energy transition.     \n\n        \n                        \n        \n                        \n                        \n                        \n                            \n                \n                    \n\n        \n        The country possesses the capability to locally produce a significant portion of the components required for the transmission and distribution value chain\, including powerline-related products and components. Leveraging this capacity can stimulate industrial growth\, create employment opportunities\, and reduce reliance on imports.
