The time for drought related planning for the Gauteng region is now.
Delays in infrastructure development, operational challenges, recurrent droughts, climate change and rising water demand all place Gauteng’s water security at risk. As highlighted in a recent report commissioned by the Gauteng Province, ‘Gauteng must never take its water security for granted.’
The Gauteng Water Alliance focuses on the following four areas:
- Helping companies to implement water efficiency, pollution control and business continuity measures, through case studies and peer learning
- Supporting municipalities in improving their water infrastructure
- Facilitating business engagement and assistance to key Vaal System initiatives
- Evaluating the efficacy of a Gauteng Water Fund, focused on the Northern Drakensburg region
