Western Cape Water Task Force

Overview

Implemented between 2017 and 2019 and involving roughly 35 companies and a range of public sector officials and independent experts, the NBI Western Cape Water Task Force focused on two key areas:

1. Providing private sector-led assistance to the City of Cape Town and Western Cape Government in strategic planning and business continuity planning related to the drought
2. The implementation of specific measures to avoid or systematically address large-scale water outages

The Task Force played an important role in fostering strong ties and communication between busines and government during a very difficult period, supported disaster and emergency response planning (particularly in relation to critical private sector infrastructure) and implemented various measures to curb water demand.
