Western Cape Water Task Force
Overview
Implemented between 2017 and 2019 and involving roughly 35 companies and a range of public sector officials and independent experts, the NBI Western Cape Water Task Force focused on two key areas:
- Providing private sector-led assistance to the City of Cape Town and Western Cape Government in strategic planning and business continuity planning related to the drought
- The implementation of specific measures to avoid or systematically address large-scale water outages
The Task Force played an important role in fostering strong ties and communication between busines and government during a very difficult period, supported disaster and emergency response planning (particularly in relation to critical private sector infrastructure) and implemented various measures to curb water demand.
