The NBI’s Social Transformation programme aims to challenge and support our member companies to collectively work towards transforming to become an equal, equitable and inclusive society.
We do this in Three Main Ways
Through an extensive engagement process with our member companies and experts, we have identified three key focus areas where are our interventions are aimed at addressing challenges and barriers.
Bold and courageous business leaders with empathy and a deep understanding of the lived realities of all South Africans have contributed to social cohesion by addressing the challenges of structural inequality with urgency by sustainably growing businesses and an inclusive economy.
Leaders at all levels are reflective and representative of South Africa’s diversity, where all have an equal voice, are trusted and respected and have created inclusive organisations where productive and thriving employees are recognised, are their authentic selves and know that they belong.
Organisations embody curiosity, and adaptability committed to breaking down the barriers to entry for jobs and building enabling environments for entrepreneurs and small businesses through partnerships and collaborations to achieve an inclusive economy and create a thriving society of abundance.
Transformation and Equity
Collectively share and create strategies for inclusion that unlock the value, innovation and improved productivity that enhancing and supporting diversity and representation brings to organisations.
Building Trust and Accountability
The National Business Initiative (NBI) has embarked on an Ethical Leadership and Anti-Corruption Programme to facilitate dialogue on ethics and corruption in the private sector.
Activating Bold and Transformative Leadership
Activate bold and transformative senior and young leadership within organisations that are committed to personally engaging with peers on transformation issues through dialogue and taking meaningful action.
“Our Social Transformation focus has widened to ensure that we take a deeper and holistic focus in understanding and addressing the barriers to driving systemic change, whilst tackling transverse focuses on the social aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion“
