The community-driven SPAR Group is adding to their drive to feed the nation during this disastrous phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, not only through store driven initiatives, but as an organisation as well.
SPAR has teamed up with the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa [CGCSA] and the Department of Social Development to provide food and essential items to the most vulnerable.
Distribution Centres throughout the country are in the process of packing and distributing thousands of food parcels to hunger ravaged communities. Over a 3 month period, more than 24 000 parcels of essential foods and personal items amounting to over R12 million, will be distributed to communities in need.
SPAR Western Cape, having co-ordinated the first massive packing logistics, was ready to deliver the first of the much-needed parcels this week.
Heading up the drive from the Western Cape Distribution Centre [DC], SPAR Western Cape Marketing Director, Robert Brink commented.
