The National Business Initiative (NBI), Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), have explored over the past two years, pathways to achieve a net-zero economy within a fair share carbon budget, and in the process lift people out of poverty, inequality, and unemployment.
We are now proud to announce the launch of our integrated energy report focused on the energy sector titled: “It All Hinges on Renewables – The Massive and Urgent Energy Transformation South Africa Needs To Get Right.” This is the first report in a series of reports that we will be releasing between now and the end of November 2022.
Findings from the report highlights that South Africa’s Just Transition pathway to a competitive, net-zero economy hinges on the country’s ability to unlock its globally advantaged, high-potential wind and solar energy resources at scale and at an unprecedented pace. By developing an energy system anchored by renewables, South Africa can contribute to solving its current energy crisis, and improve the affordability, availability, and reliability of our power supply – all while enabling new green industries to build the foundation of a globally competitive economy that is resilient to the trade risk arising from a transition to net-zero.
The event will also be live streamed on the day to the NBI and BCG YouTube channels. Please see links below:
