Debates to date have highlighted systemic challenges in the skills system – challenges that undermine our ability to respond to changing industry needs, and particularly the demands of the JET.
These sessions are intended to move beyond diagnosis towards collective action, asking:
What can we do differently, within our sphere of influence, to improve delivery in the short-term?
How can we shift from analysis to practical steps that drive implementation?
The working sessions will focus on mechanisms that can steer the skills ecosystem to ensure we have the right expertise in place as outlined below.
Session 1: Monday, 29 September 2025, 13:00 – 15:30 (SAST): Focus: Strengthening skills planning and alignment of resources.
Session 2: Monday, 6 October 2025, 13:00 – 15:30 (SAST): Focus: Improved training delivery and workplace learning opportunities.
The National Business Initiative (NBI), through the Just Energy Transition Skilling for Employment Programme (JET SEP), together with the Centre for Researching Education and Labour (REAL) at the University of the Witwatersrand and with support of the Just Energy Transition (JET) Project Management Unit (PMU) in the Presidency, invites you to participate in two collaborative sessions to develop practical and actionable solutions to ensure the skills required to implement agreed JET programmes and projects are in place.
