NBI: Approaches to Economic and Social Transformation

The NBI’s Transformation Programme is designed to support and facilitate a deeper and more comprehensive level of social transformation and economic inclusion by the private sector.  The programme engaging with both the role of business in addressing our core socio-economic challenges of inequality, poverty and unemployment and will also address key internal transformation issues in corporates, including inter alia issues of equity in relation to race, gender, age and leadership.

Our vision is a South African business community contributing actively to social and economic transformation by creating jobs and economic opportunities and that identifies and addresses internal and external transformation challenges in order to ensure equity within the workplace and an organisational culture appropriate to this; as well as addressing the relationship between business and the rest of society in order to achieve increased equity.

The NBI’s first 2018 Transformation Thought Leadership dialogue which takes place on 20 March 2018, is to understand approaches to changing our economy and society, and explore differing views, as well as convergences, as ultimately we are all working towards the same end. We will be engaging with the following guest panelists:

  • Busisiwe Mavuso | COO: Business Leadership South Africa
  • George Sebulela | Chairperson: Black Business Council
  • Tanya Cohen | CEO: Business Unity South Africa
  • Joanne Yawitch | CEO: National Business Initiative

This Thought Leadership Series will engage various business associations to understand their positions and approaches to creating an equal and just South African Society. The purpose is to understand these approaches and where they converge, as ultimately we are all working towards the same end.
