Nature Action Accelerator: Module 3 A South African Perspective on a Global Shift Toward Nature
May 28 @ 8:30 am - 11:00 pm
South Africa is one of the world’s most biodiverse countries – yet its ecological systems are increasingly under pressure from climate change, land use change and economic activity.
With the Global Biodiversity Framework (including Target 15)calling on business to assess, reduce and disclose nature-related risks and impacts, the role of the private sector is now central to advancing a credible, nature-positive future.
The National Business Initiative (NBI) and the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), supported by Business for Nature, invite your organisation to participate in the third module of the Nature Action Accelerator. This forms part of a structured, practical four-part series designed to support South African businesses in moving from awareness to the operational integration of nature into decision-making and systems.
What the Accelerator Delivers
Built around the globally recognised ACT‑D Framework, the programme supports companies to:
Assess: Understand nature-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities
Commit: Set clear, science-aligned ambitions and targets
Transform: Integrate nature into core business decision-making, operations, supply chains and investment processes
Disclose: Align with evolving nature-related reporting expectations and requirements
Module 3: Transform
The third module of the Nature Action Accelerator focuses on the ‘Transform’ phase of the ACT-D framework, supporting companies to move beyond analysis and target setting toward embedding nature into core business operations and decision making.
This session will guide organisations in operationalising their nature ambitions by exploring how to:
Integrate nature-related considerations into business strategy, capital allocation, and risk management.
Embed nature into operational practices, supply chains, procurement, and land-use decisions
Apply the mitigation hierarchy to manage nature impacts while advancing proactive action aligned with business strategy.
Translate material Dependencies, Impacts, Risks & Opportunities (DIRO) into concrete action and reducing negative impacts across operations and supply chains
Mobilise nature finance, including tools, mechanisms and partnerships that enable business to unlock investments for nature-positive outcomes
The Nature Action Accelerator offers a unique opportunity to strengthen corporate leadership on biodiversity, support ambitious national policy, and strengthen organisational resilience.
