INVITATION Nature Action Accelerator – A South African Perspective on a Global Shift Toward Nature-Positive Business
March 20 @ 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm
South Africa is one of the world’s most biodiverse countries – yet its biodiversity is under increasing pressure from climate change, land-use change and economic activity.
With the Global Biodiversity Framework (including Target 15) calling on business to assess, reduce and disclose nature-related risks and impacts, the role of the private sector is now central to achieving nature-positive outcomes.
The National Business Initiative (NBI) and the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), supported by Business for Nature, invite South African companies to join the Nature Action Accelerator. This accelerator offers a structured, practical capacity-building programme designed to enable South African businesses to move from awareness to strategic and operational integration of nature into their systems – supporting a credible, incremental journey along the ACT-D pathway.
What the Accelerator Delivers
Structured around the globally recognised ACT-D framework, the programme supports companies to:
Assess: Understand your organisation’s nature-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities
Commit: Set clear, science-aligned ambitions and targets
Transform: Embed biodiversity into core business decision-making, operations, supply chains and investment strategies
Disclose: Align with evolving disclosure expectations and growing requirements
Why Participate?
Build practical capability to integrate nature into strategy, risk and governance processes – while engaging directly with peers, policymakers and technical experts shaping the agenda. Position your organisation at the forefront of South Africa’s transition to a credible, nature-positive economy.
The Nature Action Accelerator offers a unique opportunity to strengthen corporate leadership on biodiversity, support ambitious national policy, and strengthen organisational resilience.
