Resilience and Adaptation – Building Capacity Through Applicable Private Sector Tools
October 18 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
INVITATION
Resilience and Adaptation - Building Capacity Through Applicable Private Sector Tools
The world is at a critical moment. As the first global stocktake of the Paris Agreement revealed at COP28, we are falling behind on our target to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The time for action is now, with businesses playing a pivotal role in safeguarding not just our environment but our future economies.
Adaptation is no longer optional. South Africa is already experiencing the effects of climate change, and the private sector must lead the way in building resilience. But how can businesses effectively integrate climate adaptation into their operations and strategies?
Join us for the first workshop in our exclusive series, Resilience and Adaptation: Building Capacity Through Applicable Private Sector Tools. Co-hosted by the National Business Initiative (NBI), Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), and the National Cleaner Production Center (NCPC), this first session is designed to provide company representatives with a high-level understanding of climate resilient services and practical adaptation planning and tools. This high-level understanding will provide the context for future workshops where we will be exploring practical and applicable planning frameworks/tools.
What to expect:
Insights into climate resilient services and their link with adaptation planning.
A high-level survey of the adaptation planning landscape.
An exploration of corporate adaptation planning needs.
A unique opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas with industry leaders committed to building resilience.
This is the first in a series of three workshops, each designed to help businesses accelerate adaptation actions, enhance resilience, and reduce vulnerability in the face of escalating climate risks.
Date: Friday, 18 October 2024 Time: 09:00 to 12:30 (SAST) Venue: FutureSpace, 61 Katherine, Dennehof, Sandton
